Newsletter 6th February 2026

Headteacher’s Message As a school, we have enjoyed reviewing our school values. We previously had 12 which seemed a lot for us to try to remember so we have slimmed them down as well as linked them with our TAKE CARE Rules. We take care of ourselves because we value… WISDOM We take care of each other because we value… RESPECT We take care of our learning because we value… PERSEVERANCE We take care of future because we value… ASPIRATION We take care of school community and world because we value… SERVCE and JUSTCE The values link really well with our Christian ethos and give us all a clear steer to the skills that we want to develop in our pupils (as indeed ourselves as adults) that will equip them well for life.

Opportunities for Parents

Do YOU have a spare hour or so that you could give to help hear readers in our Year Two class?

Reading is the cornerstone of education and regular reading is proven to make a real difference to children’s academic outcomes. We would love to welcome a volunteer to listen to our Year 2 readers. We can offer a warm welcome and a cup of tea.

School volunteers will be asked to complete a DBS check with us for safeguarding.

Careers Week

What a fantastic Whole School Careers Week we have had this week, linked to our school value "taking care of our future".  It has been filled with inspiring visitors and exciting hands-on experiences for all of our children! Lancaster City Council kicked things  off on Monday by teaching us all about recycling and caring for our environment, while on Tuesday the police brought along their patrol car, giving pupils the chance to sit inside and try the siren. Kier Construction spoke to KS2 about engineering and the many career pathways within construction. Rob Ellis, founder of Two Stories, a brand consultancy and design studio, set an engaging challenge for our Year 5 and 6 pupils. Morecambe Bay Health Trust worked with our Reception, Year 1 and Year 3 classes, helping them explore careers in health and care. Throughout the week, children identified their own skills and qualities and began to think about the wide range of jobs and career paths they can aspire to in the future

Resources for the Swannery

Mrs Walling-Lewis and Miss Stephenson do an AMAZING job in the Swannery making sure that are children are happy and ready to learn. The have lots of resources but some are tired and need replacing. Before we buy new, we wondered if anyone had the following at home that are in good condition and could be rehomed at school:

 Guess Who

 Frustration

Marble Run Set

 Sorry

Memory games

Wooden food for the play kitchen

Testimonials

It’s a lovely community. We all feel like a part of St Luke’s family. My child loves her teachers and knows other members of staff. It’s lovely to walk into school and people know my child’s name and always say hello to her, even teachers from other classes or Mrs Armistead.

Parent

I know when I drop my kids off they are happy and safe and they both enjoy their time in school.

Parent

Thank you for not only teaching my daughter but also caring for her. She’s really happy at school and is making great progress in all areas of learning.

Parent

The staff have been so supportive of my child with Special Educational Needs. They are amazing and it makes me confident that my daughter is well looked after and if she has any problems they will help.

Parent of a child with SEND

The Reception Open Day really showed the school in a good light. The Headteacher showed us round and knew all of the pupil’s names. All of the children we met were friendly and polite but more importantly they were all smiling whilst learning.

Prospective Parent

Teachers are very helpful, friendly and approachable
