Your PTA needs YOU!

We are pleased to announce that the Friends of St Luke’s has now relaunched and we are excited to get planning for our two upcoming events:

Christmas Disco – Thursday 11th December

Christmas Fayre – Thursday 18th December

These events are so important in giving our children exciting opportunities they may not otherwise get while also raising valuable extra funding for our small school.

We are looking for enthusiastic parents who would like to be involved either as a committee member (to help plan and organise) or as a supporter (help on the day).

Whatever you can offer, a little or a lot, we’d love to hear from you.

Please email to register your interest: stlukesskertonpta@gmail.com

THANK YOU!

NEW Pupil Parliament ELECTIONS – COMING SOON!

Mrs Heywood and Miss James are very excited to announce the launch of Skerton St Luke’s School Parliament! This new initiative will help our children to further understand the British value of

democracy and give them a real voice in some of the decisions we make as a school.

We know that lots of our pupils have wonderful ideas about how to make our school even better - from resources to fundraisers and community projects.  The School Parliament will give them the

opportunity to share these ideas and see some of them put into action. Children who would like to become a Member of Pupil Parliament and represent their class will need to campaign for votes by

explaining why they would make a great representative. They should be committed to attending regular meetings, listening to their classmates, and sharing their ideas and feedback. Members will also need to report back to their class and lead school worships from time to time. There will be 2 MPs representing each class, a lead and a deputy. Reception children will join us in the summer term when their campaign and election will take place. Further details will be available nearer the time.

Children who wish to put themselves forward as a candidate will be need to create a campaign poster and prepare a 3-5minute speech for their class to share their ideas and explain why they would be a great choice to represent their class. Posters will be displayed in class from Monday 17th November. Speeches and elections will take place throughout the day on Thursday 20th November, with the results being announced the next day during Friday Celebration worship.

We thank you, in advance, for encouraging your children to take part and supporting them to prepare. Miss James is offering some lunchtime support for those who wish to stand for election but won’t have chance at home.

St Luke’s Church – Christmas Fayre

Join us this Saturday 15th November for Christmas fun and games at the St Luke’s Church Christmas Fayre. It is being held here at school between 1 and 3pm so why not pop down, raise some early festive cheer and keep the kids entertained!

Equal Access Award

We are proud to announce that we have recently achieved the Equal Access Award!

This is part of the national campaign to give all girls equal access to football and sport in general.  This is certainly something that is shaping national thinking and so we are incredibly proud of, and grateful for, the hard work Miss Garnett, and team, have put into ensuring we meet this important standard.

POLITE PARKING

Unfortunately, we are still receiving quite regular complaints from our neighbours on nearby streets about inconsiderate parking at school collection times. This includes fully or partly blocking private drives, which prevents our neighbours from going about their business. We kindly request that you always park considerately on the roads near to school.

Thank you for your support and co-operation.

Testimonials

It’s a lovely community. We all feel like a part of St Luke’s family. My child loves her teachers and knows other members of staff. It’s lovely to walk into school and people know my child’s name and always say hello to her, even teachers from other classes or Mrs Armistead.

Parent

I know when I drop my kids off they are happy and safe and they both enjoy their time in school.

Parent

Thank you for not only teaching my daughter but also caring for her. She’s really happy at school and is making great progress in all areas of learning.

Parent

The staff have been so supportive of my child with Special Educational Needs. They are amazing and it makes me confident that my daughter is well looked after and if she has any problems they will help.

Parent of a child with SEND

The Reception Open Day really showed the school in a good light. The Headteacher showed us round and knew all of the pupil’s names. All of the children we met were friendly and polite but more importantly they were all smiling whilst learning.

Prospective Parent

Teachers are very helpful, friendly and approachable
