Newsletter 13th March 2026

Headteacher’s Message It has been a very busy end to the Spring Term so far but I think we can all agree that the lighter mornings and evenings coupled with a few days of sunshine are certainly bringing some extra smiles into school. Thank you to everyone who supported World Book Day this year. The children looked incredible and spoke with such passion about what books are special to them and why. Reading everyday with and to your child is the VERY BEST thing you can do to support them in their education as well as providing lovely 1:1 quality time. Parents Evening is coming up next week so please do contact the office if you are yet to make an appointment. We really value the opportunity to share your children’s interests and strengths with you and we strongly encourage everyone to try to attend. We will run the sessions from the Hall again so younger siblings are very welcome and can be supervised by school staff. We are really excited that we will also have a number of partner agencies joining us too, eager to share what their service can offer so don’t be shy, just say HI!

Skerton Dancers boogie all the way to Blackpool!

Fantastic news that our amazing troupe of dancers, supported by Miss Garnett, were successfully placed 1st in the local rounds of a dance competition and will now perform in Blackpool at the  Winter Gardens.

Miss Garnett says

“This is truly our biggest dance achievement yet and we could not be prouder of every single dance who represented us and winning our local competition to allow us to the next stage at the Winter Gardens. Now its time to get ready for Blackpool”

Parking

We have had further complaints from residents close to school about inconsiderate  parking resulting in drives being blocked. Please do not park across or block any drive  regardless of the drive being empty, this also includes parking in private carparks.       Residents have also reported illegal parking on double yellow lines and yellow zig zags . Inconsiderate and illegal parking endangers the life of all children and parents and is    unacceptable. Please ensure you leave enough time at morning drop off and afternoon pick up to park safely and considerately.

School Carpark/Driveway

The school car park is for staff only. Under no circumstances should parents be using the school driveway or car park for parking, turning around or when  collecting or dropping their children at school/Night Owls/Early Birds.

Testimonials

It’s a lovely community. We all feel like a part of St Luke’s family. My child loves her teachers and knows other members of staff. It’s lovely to walk into school and people know my child’s name and always say hello to her, even teachers from other classes or Mrs Armistead.

Parent

I know when I drop my kids off they are happy and safe and they both enjoy their time in school.

Parent

Thank you for not only teaching my daughter but also caring for her. She’s really happy at school and is making great progress in all areas of learning.

Parent

The staff have been so supportive of my child with Special Educational Needs. They are amazing and it makes me confident that my daughter is well looked after and if she has any problems they will help.

Parent of a child with SEND

The Reception Open Day really showed the school in a good light. The Headteacher showed us round and knew all of the pupil’s names. All of the children we met were friendly and polite but more importantly they were all smiling whilst learning.

Prospective Parent

Teachers are very helpful, friendly and approachable
