Message from Mrs Gaffiney What a lovely start I have had in my first few weeks at Skerton St Luke’s! I have been humbled and extremely grateful for the very warm welcome I have received, from pupils, parents and staff alike, and I can’t believe how lucky I am to have been appointed the Headteacher of such a fantastic school. Thank you all. Having settled in, I am now beginning the exciting work on the priorities that we will be focussing on over the next academic year. More information will follow on this in the coming weeks so watch this space! Wishing you all a fun-filled weekend of family time, Mrs Gaffiney

Behaviour

To help the children to develop a shared language abut the way we approach behaviour at our school, we have introduced the 5 TAKE CARE RULES:

Take care of ourselves

Take care of each other

Take care of your learning

Take care of your school, community and world

Take care of your future

These are displayed in classrooms and are already being used by staff to praise good behaviour choices. The take care rules are a good way of teaching children about personal responsibility and learning how their  behaviour impacts on them, those around them and their environment.

In celebration assemblies, we will nominate a Take Care Champion for the week who has exemplified one aspect of the rules.

Testimonials

It’s a lovely community. We all feel like a part of St Luke’s family. My child loves her teachers and knows other members of staff. It’s lovely to walk into school and people know my child’s name and always say hello to her, even teachers from other classes or Mrs Armistead.

Parent

I know when I drop my kids off they are happy and safe and they both enjoy their time in school.

Parent

Thank you for not only teaching my daughter but also caring for her. She’s really happy at school and is making great progress in all areas of learning.

Parent

The staff have been so supportive of my child with Special Educational Needs. They are amazing and it makes me confident that my daughter is well looked after and if she has any problems they will help.

Parent of a child with SEND

The Reception Open Day really showed the school in a good light. The Headteacher showed us round and knew all of the pupil’s names. All of the children we met were friendly and polite but more importantly they were all smiling whilst learning.

Prospective Parent

Teachers are very helpful, friendly and approachable
